About The Cathedral

The striking Cathedral rock formation is a truely impressive Tor* within the Mt Buffalo national park in Bright Victoria, Australia. The outcrop is unusual as it's spires seem to defy gravity. It's a favourite climbing location with an abundance of challenging routes for the brave and experienced.

A tor, which is also known by geomorphologists as a large, free-standing rock outcrop that rises abruptly from the surrounding smooth and gentle slopes of a rounded hill summit or ridge crest.
